I am a DONA (Doulas of North America) trained birth doula in San Diego, California. My passion for women’s health lead me to work as a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital setting for a few years. However, I decided to become a doula so I could give women the one-on-one support they need while in labor. I serve women all over San Diego county.

A doula is a trained birth companion, who provides one-on-one support throughout the labor process. One of a doula’s primary roles is to support the mother’s personal preferences throughout pregnancy and childbirth, while providing evidence-based information to help a family make informed choices right for them. Another major role of a doula is to provide and help couples practice tailored skills shown to be helpful during labor, including breathing, guided imagery, beneficial positions, massage, and pressure points. A doula also directs a partner on how to best support the mother during labor.
Women are more likely to rate their birth experience as positive
Women are less likely to need pain medication during labor
Women are less likely to need Pitocin to induce or augment labor
Women are more likely to have a shorter length of labor
Women are less likely to have a Cesarean birth
I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I specialized in labor and delivery working for several years in a hospital setting as an RN. During that time I was often frustrated with the lack of individualized care I was able to provide; this lead me to become passionate about making pregnancy and birth more natural and family centered. As a doula I prioritize the individual preferences of the family and help inform my clients about how to make the birthing experience their own, rather than an impersonal hospital process.
Despite a foundation in western medicine, I enjoy being able to incorporate holistic health practices for pregnancy and labor. I have been trained in the use of essential oils and believe in the uses of acupuncture, yoga, massage and chiropractic care which I can refer clients to if desired.
During my free time I enjoy being outdoors and connecting with nature. Since moving to San Diego I have enjoyed running on the beach and frequenting farmers markets. I also practice Vinyasa yoga 3-5 times per week. Yoga is a great way for me to connect with myself and become more attuned to my own body.
