Empowering women to have the birth they want.

I am a DONA (Doulas of North America) trained birth doula in San Diego, California. My passion for women’s health lead me to work as a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital setting for a few years. However, I decided to become a doula so I could give women the one-on-one support they need while in labor. I serve women all over San Diego county.

My Services

  • 1-2 prenatal meetings to discuss your preferences, create a birth plan, and learn different pain management techniques

  • My support via email and phone throughout your entire pregnancy, for any questions or concerns you may have

  • My attendance throughout your labor and birth

  • I will stay 1-2 hours after the birth to assist with breastfeeding and take photos desired by the family

  • 1 postpartum meeting 10-14 days after the birth to discuss the birth and services provided

What Is a Doula?

A doula is a trained birth companion, who provides one-on-one support throughout the labor process. One of a doula’s primary roles is to support the mother’s personal preferences throughout pregnancy and childbirth, while providing evidence-based information to help a family make informed choices right for them. Another major role of a doula is to provide and help couples practice tailored skills shown to be helpful during labor, including breathing, guided imagery, beneficial positions, massage, and pressure points. A doula also directs a partner on how to best support the mother during labor.

Benefits of Using a Doula Are:

  •  Women are more likely to rate their birth experience as positive

  • Women are less likely to need pain medication during labor

  • Women are less likely to need Pitocin to induce or augment labor

  • Women are more likely to have a shorter length of labor

  • Women are less likely to have a Cesarean birth

Hi I’m Dani!

I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I specialized in labor and delivery working for several years in a hospital setting as an RN. During that time I was often frustrated with the lack of individualized care I was able to provide; this lead me to become passionate about making pregnancy and birth more natural and family centered. As a doula I prioritize the individual preferences of the family and help inform my clients about how to make the birthing experience their own, rather than an impersonal hospital process.

Despite a foundation in western medicine, I enjoy being able to incorporate holistic health practices for pregnancy and labor. I have been trained in the use of essential oils and believe in the uses of acupuncture, yoga, massage and chiropractic care which I can refer clients to if desired.

During my free time I enjoy being outdoors and connecting with nature. Since moving to San Diego I have enjoyed running on the beach and frequenting farmers markets. I also practice Vinyasa yoga 3-5 times per week. Yoga is a great way for me to connect with myself and become more attuned to my own body.
